London apartment

Three of us will be going to London for 2 weeks in October 2002. We are looking for a small apartment. Can anyone suggest some good agencies?

We used an outfit called country cottages and were very happy with the apartment (actually an attached apt to owners home) 18 miles outside of London right on the train line in Walton on Thames that we ended up in. It was absolutely great!

I have used Farnum and Christ (www.farnum-christ.com). There isn't a lot on their website, but after looking at their website call their 800 number and one of them will discuss with you your needs and help select a flat for you. They represent individual owners who have private flats for rent. We will be in our same one in Covent Garden this summer for the fifth time. If you are looking for a low budget place, they may not be for you, but all their flats are very nice and far less expensive than most of the "luxury" rental places I've seen for simlar apartments. Our giant "loft" style flat with one bedroom and two baths has huge windows, a giant "great room", artistically decorated, and owned by a major horse breeder couple in the country who use it for their "in town" home. Most of their other flats are in the Sloane Square or Kensington areas, but we love our Covent Garden location.

Sorry, forgot to mention that the above flat costs us about $200 a night on a week basis, which we think is a real steal for central London, especially for something so great.
