London Airport Transfers
I noticed that Londontown.com is selling airport transfers.

Has anyone used Krest Transfers? Are they reliable? They are advertising return transfers for 2 people at 35 pounds. This is shared transport with a van.

Other than taking the tube is that a good price?

Watch out for those shared van rides, they can take forever if they're taking people to assorted hotels. This can be really risky if they're your ride TO the airport!

For roughly the rate you quoted, you can hire a private driver through www.london-transfers.com

I just got back from London Wednesday and used Krest for the first time (arranged through my travel agent). I was pleased with their service and thought they were very dependable. The driver was waiting for us when we got through customs, although I didn't see him and called their office. The person I was talking to on the phone contacted the driver and he was standing almost right next to me -- I was so jet-lagged I hadn't see the sign he was holding! For the return he was at the hotel before the scheduled pick-up time. We did have to make a couple of stops to pick up other passengers but there was enough time. Another transfer service I have used is Hotelink. They use minibuses and make many more stops but they are also dependable. As far as price is concerned, I have always booked it through my travel agent and it's part of the total cost, so I can't compare.

We have used www.london-transfers.com several times - very good, reliable company. I have recommended them a number of times and everyone has been pleased. Flat fee - no sharing van. The price is no different from what you are saying Krest charges and you are not sharing.

I would never think of taking the tube with jetlag and luggage - it's not a wise idea, there are lots of stairs, etc. Go for comfort/convenience - it's your vacation after all.

Lori,
On your recommendation, which makes perfect sense, we've arranged for London Transfers to greet us on our upcoming trip. I am looking forward to not schlepping luggage after a long flight. Price works out to be about the same as Heathrow Express plus a cab to hotel.

M.
PS On a related topice, several of my friends and my sister use a limo service to get from home to the airport. It's a little more ( I think $10-15), BUT no ride-sharing, curbside check-in , and they show-up on time. Sounds worth it to me.

Michele,
I think you will be happy with London Transfers, usually I worry when I recommend something/someone, but we have honestly been very pleased with them. Ray Skinner is the owner and he is a most pleasant person to deal with (and drove us out to Heathrow on our last visit himself). Tell him Lori said HI, we are using his company in April and I already have confirmed reservations with him. I hope you really enjoy your trip!! I adore London, we go every year.
