Thanks everyone! I had never heard of Sticky Fingers before. Maybe a quick trip to Hard Rock, just to get the t-shirts, then to Sticky Fingers for a meal? How is the food there, and where is it located?

Food is fine; same as Hard Rock cafe really. It's close to Kensington High Street (nice shopping) and to Holland Park; for a walk after lunch. We used to go there all the time with the kids when we lived in London. Haven't been there in the last 2 years though.

nospam stated "I'm so sorry, but I don't understand why you would travel all the way to London to eat in an international food chain.".

Well the only reason to go to the London one is that it's the original.

So if you feel the need for a Hard Rock t-shirt, then London's is the one to get.

I, on the other hand, haven't been, don't know anyone who's been, don't even know where it is, and I'm a local!

It's (or maybe one of several) at the Hyde Park Corner end of PIccadilly if I'm not mistaken. However, it's not the best burger in London. Well, I'm quite sure it's not...and I say that without ever having set foot in there.

There's a current trend towards "gourmet" burger chains - Fine Burger Company, Gourmet Burger Company etc. etc. You're best to try a burger at one of these places. The meat is supposedly higher than average quality and at around 6-8GBP per burger (which comes with the trimmings) it isn't terribly pricey either.

I had a really great burger in the Hard Rock about a year ago and I'm fussy as they tend to overcook burgers in the UK or add spices. I like mine medium rare. Tom Parker Bowles recently cited the Hard Rock as one of the 3 best places to go in London for a burger. The location is great, right next to Hyde Park Corner. Sure, it's diner style and very U.S. in feel but so what? I'm sure if I was 12 years old I would vote for a meal there. On the other hand, if you are not that bothered about eating there, you can just cheat and buy the t-shirt! ;-)

Sticky Fingers, IMHO, isn't worth the trip out to Kensington. My husband and I had an average burger there but the location is just not that exciting and depending on how much time you have in London, I think you will find yourself in a part of London you didn't mean to be (unless you are intending to visit Kensington Palace, Holland Park, etc.) and probably wouldn't be the most efficient use of your travel time.
