If you're a grown-up you can wear what you please, eh? "Trainers" (tennis shoes) are fine. London is a big, world-class city and I'm sure they've already seen anything that you can come up with.

I wear a tie probably 355 days a year and when I'm on holiday I'll bloody well do with out it. I would not be caught dead in white tennies, either, for that matter.

If you're going to a pub leave the tie in your room. If you're attending a funeral, a wedding, or are being knighted by the Queen, by all means wear a tie.

London dear is the epicentre of world style. Wear whatever you like, but just make sure you look cool.

London is the "trash can of Europe" therefore whatever you wear will be OK. Londoners tend to think that they are the epicentre of the world but that is because that are wearing rose tinted glasses or are totally blind and have never been anywhere else.

oh purleese! And what trash can do you originate from? London is the coolest city on earth and you're just jealous that you are obviously not cool enough to belong there.

I guess it depends on who you are and where you are going. Where I went I found Londoners "dress up". Open collar with jacket, etc. did fine (for me) where ever I went. As long as you look decent I don't think it really matters.
