Yes, Oxford is an easy trip from London by train or bus. You could also go to Cambridge or Brighton. Or Winchester or even York. Have you been to Windsor? It's close to London, and there's the castle and the town and Eton.
The Cotswolds are harder to see by public transportation (which I assume you're taking). However, London Walks (www.walks.com) offers an excursion to Oxford and the Cotswolds on Wednesdays.
So it depends on your interests -- and maybe a little bit on the weather. If it rains, Oxford and Windsor, maybe York, make better destinations. More to see indoors.

Oggsford would be my choice - so close by train and or bus and just so so unique - Cambridge too - some folks like one better than the other but it's usually a toss up. I think Oggsford at slightly more things of interest.
Hampton ?Court Palace is one of my very favorite near London sites - Henry VIIIs Tudor palace and also filled with world-famous art from the Queen's collection and a vast park with a famous Maze and sweet walks along the Thames - can go by overground train.

Hi KGB3511,
Are you interested in DOWNTON ABBEY? I took a great day trip to the tv locales of the series which also included a tour of BLENHEIM PLACE.
I describe it in my trip report under Friday, June 20
