Loire Valley
We have 3 days inbetween Paris and San Sebasitan and would like to spend it in the quiet countryside of France. We are looking forward to the wine and relaxing while seeing some beautiful sights and history. We're thinking of two nights in Amboise at Le Chateau de Pray and then maybe a night in Bordeaux (or somewhere half way between Amboise and San Sebasitan). Any thoughts on that one night stay in Bordeaux or elsewhere? Places to stay on a 150Euro budget? Thanks for all your input!

I hated Bordeaux although I might have hit it on a couple of its bad days. Anyway it is a big city. Why not stay in St Emilion about a half an hour inland from Bordeaux?

This site gives details of some hotels. The Hostellerie de Plaisance has a good name but is probably outside your budget (some rooms are under 140Euros but they might be singles - need to check). Others like the Palais Cardinal are well located and within your price range (for a standard room only). Au Logis des Remparts is within the old city walls and is well within your budget.

I second Faux! We hated Bordeaux, loved St. Emillion and the small, old Logis des Remparts--get a room with a window overlooking the meadow/vineyard. It has parking, but you don't need a car in this town, just good legs and a wanderlust.

Thank you both for your responses. I have booked a room at Logis des Remparts! We are planning our first trip abroad and I can't tell you how helpful the people at this website have been to this newbie! Merci Beaucoup! (sp?)
