Lodging near Piazza Navona
We will be in Rome late May for 2 nights. We want to be near Piazza Navona. I need recommendations for hotel/B&B in the $100- $150 range , if possible. Would an apartment be worth looking into for such a short stay? Most seem to want @ least a 3 nights stay.

Have you checked www.venere.com? Your budget will be a challenge but not impossible. I'm not familiar with an apartment rental service that will accommodate a 2-night stay, but perhaps someone else here has knowledge of one.

I agree that I probably need to increase my budget per night. Do you have any recommendations at all in the Navona area? I guess I can think of changing the location but it needs to be centrally located. I'm open to suggestions. I have looked at venere.com and see places but would prefer to hear from anyone on their own experiences.
NeoPatrick, thanks for that tip. I hadn't thought of being dumped!

Jean, do you have any suggestions for the historical district? I am limiting myself by choosing only the Navona area so any input is appreciated.
We haven't been to Rome in about 5 years and it seems like the prices have risen markedly.

If you are willing to spend a little more, try Residenza Canali, my new favorite. www.residenzacanali.com
In May you might still be able to get a room there for less than $200. IMHO, it is worth the money for an absolutely lovely little hotel in a fabulous location.

I can highly recommend the Hotel Tetropace 33. It is located about a block from Piazza Navona and is within walking distance from almost all of the major sites. The breakfast is awful but I only paid 100€ for a single in March. It does not have a lift but it does have a beautiful spiral staircase.

roadlesstraveled: was that March '07 that you were at the TeatroPace33? We stayed there a couple of years ago, but haven't found a decent rate there since then.
I don't mean to hijack this thread, but it will be good info for bamababe as well as myself. Were those US dollars? Did you use a book engine or write to the hotel itself?
Breakfast is crap there, but the rooms are comfy and bathrooms are nice. We had a big room with a little tiny balcony.

Hi tuscanlifeedit
Yes it was from March 14 to March 21 of this year. In US dollars it was about $127 a night for the single. It was a nice room with a good sized bathroom and two big windows that overlooked a neighboring courtyard. I booked through the hotel using email. I booked several months ahead.
