Lodging in Lucerne (Luzern)
My wife and I will be spending two nights in Lucerne, Switzerland in early September. We are looking for a nice hotel or B & B that isn't real high priced. Anybody have a good recommendation?

On 2003, we stayed at Hotel Goldener Stern, which is about 2-3 blocks off the river, but on the 'other' side (that is, from the old town). We walked from the Bahnhof to the hotel, about 800 meters / 10-15 minutes. Had a plain-but-functional twin room (no decor but clean) with ensuite shower/wc. They offered the usual German/Swiss type of breakfast - coffee, breads, cheese, juice, cereal? nothing cooked. We would stay there again; it is very difficult to find something that looks decent that is inexpensive too. We walked to everything (Musseggwall, old town, the Lion Monument, etc).

Double/Twins, ensuite, 110-150chf/76-105euro.

Do you want to stay in downtown Lucerne? We stayed in a little town on the Lake, Weggis, and took the ferry to/from Lucerne and Vitznau/Mt Rigi. It was the Seehotel Gotthard. Very nice place, had a very romantic dinner lakeside.
