Lodging in Florence

My wife and I are planning three days in Florence in September. Any recommendations for clean, quiet lodging, not too far a walk (within a mile)from primary sites?

Hoping to spend no more than $80/night (180,000 L). Is this a realistic request?

Hi, Jeff. I'm travelling alone so I can't offer specific advice about double rooms. $80/night is doable, but September is a very popular time of year and finding hotels at this point may be difficult. I would suggest using the search option for this site using the keywords 'Florence hotel' or "florence hotels'. When you find a hotel available you can also do a search for the hotel name or post a message with the hotel name in the subject heading. I'm staying at the Locanda Orchidea near the duoma. I've never stayed there before but it is was recommended in the Let's Go Guide and I read a lot of good stuff about it on the internet. Sorry I can't be of more help.

Hi Jeff,

I would recommend Hotel Casci. I stayed there last year, and remember it being reasonably priced. It is also very clean, and very close to the Duomo. I found it on this site.

Have a great trip!

This was suggested to us; it is newly opened, not in the guidebook. With bath...
Hotel Ferdinando II, Firenze
reserve with VISA; L145.000/night
ph. 055-2608665; FAX 055-2646917

Of course, we won't be there til September. But they did have vacancies.
Recommended by the English lady (Evelyn?) who runs the Hotel across the street, who had no doubles with bath left.

I studied in Florence last summer and all of the students were put up at the Albergo Firenze. A room with 2 twin beds was L130,000. Comes with European breakfast (roll & coffee). Great location. We walked everywhere the whole summer. Located one block from the Duomo. I will return to Florence next summer and I have every intention of staying there again.

Hotel Casci
Clean, reasonable, but more than $80, good breakfast, and they are friendly and helpful. Seems a safe part of town - just a few minutes walk to the Duomo.
Have dinner at Il Barrocio behind the Via del Proconsolo - yummy.

I wanted to say also that after Marj recommended Hotel Casci to me I checked out their webpage: www.hotelcasci.com
and on it, they have a great interactive map of Florence. (I think it says map of Florence or something)...anyway, a map will come up and you can click on hotels, b & b's, etc...and it will bring up the webpage of that hotel. A very good tool for research on hotels in Florence. You can also see the proximity of them to monuments in the area.

Hope this helps!
