Lodging in Amsterdam

We (2 retired couples in their 70's) will be in Amsterdam in September for 3 nights. We would love to be along a canal. Need a place without a lot of stairs. Any suggestions?

booking.com. filter for budget and preferences, use the map view to decide where you want to stay. Please be careful choosing a "quaint", "authentic" hotel: Dutch stairs are steep, and lots of properties on canals are in historic buildings.

Even if the hotel says elevator, it only means it has at least one elevator. It in no way means that you can get to your room without using some or a lot of stairs even after using an elevator. Dutch stairs can be unbelievably steep. You have to ask the hotel directly to see what kind of room they can try to book for you. Larger hotels are often built by connecting previously separate buildings having floors at different heights.

To be sure of an elevator to all floors/rooms you will probably have to stick to purpose-built/modern properties, and not an historical conversion.
