lodging in Amsterdam
I will be in Amsterdam in the beginning of March. I will be traveling with my sister and my son. We are looking for a nice placew to stay that is not to expensive. A bed and Breakfast would be fine. If anyone knows of a place to stay, could you please pass on the information. Also, should I call now and make reservations?

Your inquiry has begun to "sink" without any responses... Try a search on this forum by typing "Amsterdam" in the text box. There has been a load of discussion in the past on Amsterdam hotels, so you should find plenty to read. Also, I believe you should make your reservations just as soon as you identify a hotel that sounds right. March is not peak season, but you don't want to to risk not getting a room where you want. Good luck!

Lydia,
My suggestion is that you get on the phone today! Amsterdam books up fast and early! We stayed at the Hotel Washington, you can check out the Fodor's site for info. It's not as cheap as a B&B, but you are running late on this request! Time is of the essence! Have Fun!

Oh do get on this quickly! When I was booking our March 2-5 rooms a month ago I ran into sold out situations. There are a number of really good search engines or sites that offer tons of info on various hotels, including pictures. If you haven't already found these, e-m me (at the address below) and I'll be happy to forward them to you.... [email protected]

I just booked two en-suite rooms for May and had to go to my 5th choice before I found a hotel w/rooms . . . so do act quickly!
I ended up w/reservations at the Hotel Acro, Jan Luijkenstraat 44, tel: (020) 66-25538, fax: (020)675-0811, www.acro-hotel.nl
email: [email protected]
This hotel is listed in Frommer's Little Black Book of Budget Hotels, 2001. It looked good and the management responded very quickly. A double room is 180 ($78) and includes breakfast/taxes.
Good luck,
Sandy
