Posts suggesting a different itinerary are well-intentioned but ....>>

Nyse - What you said was:

≤≤Liverpool has been on my list since 1964 and Cardiff - well, I want to see Wales.≥≥

perhaps you can understand our confusion.

it is of course your trip, but IMHO you would get a much better idea of the country [of which a capital is only one part, albeit an important one] if you saw a bit of it. it is perfectly feasible to travel from liverpool to Cardiff via the interior of wales, in 2 days.

have a great trip, whatever you decide to do.

Sorry if my comment came across as rude; I very much appreciate the time and effort going into all the replies.

And you're absolutely right - I should have written "I want to set my foot in Wales and Cardiff is my choice of where to do it."

If nothing else, it just proves how we all travel for different reasons.

Thanks to all who responded so thoughtfully!

hi again nyse - not at all rude, just confusing!

hopefully between us all you've gleaned enough to be a help with your planning.

Why not come back with a Trip report and tell us all how you got on?

^^"Why not come back with a Trip report and tell us all how you got on?"^^^

Is 5 1/2 years too late to report back?
In this interval I've managed to visit Liverpool twice, both times teaming it with London.

But Cardiff remains undone and I'm still thinking about it..can never get enough of London so would probably see London and Cardiff in combination - open-jaw. We've been to Stonehenge but I'd not say no to another visit, especially with the recent site improvements.

And again, I'll express my appreciation for all the thoughtful responses from 2011!

nyse: I am getting ready to work on my trip report. Just returned from 3 weeks, including a train ride from London to Cardiff (easy peasy), renting a car there and driving through Wales. Love, love, love Wales, especially the coast! Our first trip was in 2012, and the UK had been calling since.

eastenderusvi - let's hope your TR doesn't take as long as nyse's!

Glad you enjoyed Wales so much - I'm looking forward to finding out why.
