julies, thanks for an interesting report. I had been following your pre-trip questions. I'm glad you had such a good time.

Marija, thank you for that link. I've learned something today.

Hi Julies, thanks for those posts very informative. I am planning a trip arund lithuania for myself and 4 friends, we are leaving in 2 weeks can't wait. Just wondering whether anyone reading this has any idea how long it takes to travel from Utena(east) to klapieda? would you have to travel via kaunas or can you get there directly? Thanks

Wow, loved the report! I know you traveled with relatives that live there but was wondering about the language barriers and if English was used by the locals. Thanks.

Not to piggyback but here's some more Lithuania info for anyone who's interested: http://www.fodors.com/forums/threads...p;tid=34841274

Lithuania is a beautiful country; I'm finding myself wanting to be back in those pine forests or by the lakes or even just out in the orchard...Sigh. I didn't expect that I'd be getting homesick for Lithuania...

Really late here, but I enjoyed reading this. My father's paternal side is from Lithuania, so I feel a strong pull to visit one day.
