No. We will not be purchasing more excess from Auto Jardim. We are believing that the excess will be refunded by Economy as they state.
One of the posts I read in way of a complaint about Economy is that someone paid for the excess when they picked up the car because they did not want a hold put on their credit card (or maybe they had a small credit limit) and expected Economy to refund that amount.
They completely misunderstood. Economy will refund any of the excess if you are charged by Auto Jardim when you have an accident but not if you decide to buy insurance at the time of pick up.
In the case of the car we are renting, the excess hold amount will be E1200. I asked when I called. Return the car undamaged the hold is removed. Damage the car and they charge your credit card up to the hold amount and then you must recover this from Economy.
The older I get I don't even want to replace tires or windshileds with my own money. There is a company www.dailyexcess.com which sells insurance which includes this for about $6 a day. I am considering getting this. Auto Jardim does not offer this coverage, I asked that also.
