Lisbon

Hey Fodorites, I arrive in Lisbon airport on 17 Nov from Paris at 12.10 pm. Could you please help:

1. Where should I stay in Lisbon? Should it be close to airport, as I have a flight to Rome at 9.20 am. So, I am in Lisbon for 3 nights and 2 days.

2. Which places to visit in Lisbon? Can I go to a place outside Lisbon, like a day trip? How do I go? I like the sea.

3. How do I move around in Lisbon? public transport?

1. No need to stay near the airport. There are buses and the metro, not to mention taxis, to get there, and it's not far.

2. There are very, very many places to see in and around Lisbon. Get a guide book! Read the TRs here (click on my name for mine). Click on the Destinations tab above.

3. Public transport is excellent and varied. See: http://wikitravel.org/en/Lisbon

Likely you can find day trips from hotels. Our travel group last October went to Sintra and Cascais one day, incl. Royal Palace at Sintra. Nowadays Cascais is a resort town by the sea. We stayed at Hotel Mundial in Praca do Rossio area and toured some in Lisbon though fatiqued at the tail end of our Spainr-Portugal trip mostly relaxed.

Hi
You don’t need to stay near the Airport, the city center is about 30 min by táxi. You should stay downtown, there’s plenty of offer and the best thing is that all main places to visit are at walking distance, except Belém, for that you need to take the tram.

Outside Lisbon you should definitely visit Sintra, is a 40 min ride by train from Rossio (which is downtown) and it can be visited in one day.

Best regards
