Limited Trip to Spain
Hello All,
We are flying into Madrid the evening of Oct 28th and leaving the morning of November 4th. our main objective is to spend a few days with our exchange student (she left us in May) and her family in Colindres, on the Cantabrian coast.
It will be the second trip to Spain for my husband and I. On the first we spent time in Madrid, Seville and the interior region (Castile?) - Salamanca, Toledo, Segovia, Vallodolid, etc. This is my 14 y old daughter's first trip.
We are thinking of staying in Madrid for a day before proceeding north by train. Colindres will be our home base and most of what we do will be day trips. We have interest in seeing Bilbao and San Sebastian. Do you have any advice on things to do, places to see? My husband had been hoping to see a soccer game but the schedule isn't cooperating. We enjoy not too strenuous hiking, history, and sports. My daughter is hoping to avoid museums but she won't be able to
Thanks for your advice!

Hi shaya, How nice that you have kept in touch with your exchange student. If you go to the Europe thread, there is an icon for other trip reports. I especially enjoyed maitaitom's!
Mine is mostly art, but I did see a flamenco dancer with the help of the hotel folks:
Madrid and London
Enjoy!

A good guidebook, such as Michelin's Green, would provide some very useful information.
For some inspiration / ideas, you might take a look at my trip report that includes Bilbao and San Sebastian.
