L'Ilot Vache

L'Ilot Vache is recommended for families in the "Take the kids to Paris" Cardogan guide. I will be travelling with a group of 9 people, including kids, and this restaurant is near our hotel. Can anyone recommend for or against this place, keeping in mind the size of our group and that we have kids (aged 8 to 14)? Thanks!

It has lots of cow images and sculptures and souvenirs in it, if your kids like cows.

AT ONE TIME THIS WAS MY FAVORITE PLACE IN PARIS, BUT THE LADY WHO RAN IT DIED, AND IT WENT DOWN BADLY. HAVE NOT BEEN THERE IN 4-5 YEARS, BUT CAN'T IMAGINE IT BEING FOR KIDS. IT IS A TEENY TINY PLACE.

Sounds like you're staying on the ile St. Louis. If you decide against l'ilot Vache and are looking primarily for fun rather than quality of food, a good choice for large parties that include children is Nos Ancêtres les Gaulois on rue St-Louis en l'ile.

Oh my gosh, she died??? Are you sure?

We used to LOVE L'llot Vache, and agree that it went way downhill 4 or 5 years ago. The current ownership of Sgt. Recruiter told us they used to own it, and left it for the Sgt. Recruiter restaurant. He said nothing of the women dying....

No, it's not a good place for children, no matter who owns it.
