Liberal fun in Germany and France

Ok, we are perhaps posting about something that is on the "edge" as far as the forum goes, wife and I are going to be spending a week in Germany, Rothenburg, Munich, Bavarian Alps, western and southwestern Germany, and another week or so in the Strasbourg France area. Being thousands of miles from home, we might like to expirement with the prurient side of life, whether that be European nudity, sexuality, clubs that are very liberal, pretty much anything of that sort - we'd love to hear thoughts and fun, sexy places to try. Respond here, or if you like please email us at [email protected] - thanks for your help !

Thank heavens this is only about sex. I was afraid it was about politics.

Love him or hate him, there's a whole message board topic on walking on the wild side on Rick Steeves' website.

Oh, those people who love to "tease" you....there are a lot of sites in Munich but I'm afraid you'll have to tell us what you're "into." A word of caution, though...that "being thousands of miles from home" may not be as insulating as you might think, although I kinda think you aren't going to find much "action" in Rothenburg unless the two of you are prowling the city walls after dark.
There is a gigolo on another thread who might be able to help at least one of you, though, and a "foodie" from New York who is apparently into whipped cream.

Good luck.

You're going to Strasbourg, Rothenburg and the Alps for prurience?

You need a better TA.

Just remember that you may run into someone from home. I remember a Dear Abby column from years ago. A young female lawyer wrote that she had gone on vacation to (what she thought was) a remote South Pacific Island. Just about all the other women on the beach were topless, so she decided to be topless, too. While topless, who did she meet but a male partner from her law firm! Abby didn't have much advice for her on how to live it down, saying basically "You were the one who took off your top."

Well, shoot! I completely misunderstood, too..............

I thought this Forum had become so famous that Bill, Hill, Al, Tipper, Barbara, James, Alec, John and Teresa........ were all looking for advice from US on having a wild time across the pond......

(Thanks to whoever mentioned Rick Steves's website........ never realized all those discussions he had on there!)

So, watching German TV isn't enough for you? Those soap commericals are darn near x-rated!

This is a laugh. I am sure you would have much better luck with info on websites geared to this sort of lifestyle. From seeing the TV show Eurotrash, Germany seems to be the alternative epicentre. You might be luckier in larger cities like Berlin....I am speechless

Yikes. Our itinerary seems to cross paths with yours (I'd almost think you were my DH but he wouldn't be for this info...would he?)

Re: we might like to expirement with the prurient side of life,

Expirement: the state of being of a person with a weak heart who experiences too much of the prurient side of life.

You don't seem to be going there -- and, even if you did, I wouldn't have any specific suggestions -- but I'd think Berlin would be a good destination for your interests.

Nude beaches are not generally considered prurient. Don't get your hopes up.

No, funny, elle, funny! Loved your first remark, as I thought it was about politics, too. And ira, LOL on the TA!

Beware, glgray! Frequent contributor Patrick just ran into not one but TWO other fodorites all in the same restaurant. Imagine if this happened in a sex club.

How did he recognize those other fodorites? Are we supposed to wear badges with red Fs on them or something while traveling?

He was in a restaurant in Orvieto that is often recommended on the Europe board. As the lunch crowd cleared, there were eventually 3 tables of Americans left and they all got to talking. Guess what? They were all fodorites! Pretty bizarre, eh?

LOL at Marilyn's last comment !
The Fodorites would be the ones huddled nervously together in a corner with black socks, white trainers and nothing else

When I was a teen, I remember reading a Sidney Sheldon novel (it was called 'Bloodline') on a transatlantic flight from London, and if I remember that novel correctly, Berlin certainly seems to be the place to go.
(A funny anecdote to this story is that the book was bought for me at the airport by my very purient aunt simply because it had just been made into a movie that summer and was playing all over the place. If she only knew.)
