That is most helpful.
I am in my 50's and have not studied for a very long time.
By full immersion i just meant the teachers don't speak English at all during class. I think that is scaring me the most.
Any way I am very much looking forward to it!

Even in beginner classes I have taken in the U.S., the teachers have tried to speak and explain only in Italian. In the courses in Italy, it is also necessary because not all of the students speak English. Somehow, they get the message across.
But, again, don't worry. Among the first phrases you will learn will be "I don't understand" (Non capisco), "How do you say?" (Come si dice?), and "How do you write?" (Come si scrive?)

Complimenti, tu sei molto brava!! Thank you so much for this wonderful report! Lucca is one of my favorite cities in Italy. As a matter of fact, my first time there I attended Koine language school , where Angelo from LIS was the manager. i'm very happy to hear that LIS is such a good school as Ive been wanting to return to Lucca for Italian classes but didnt like Koine. So now I know ive found a good school option there.

Cruiseluv - I think you would be happy with the situation at LIS, so if you are hankering to return to Lucca, it would be a good choice.
flpab - so many places, so little time - right? I would love to return to Lucca, but right now my family has trips lined up for Ireland and then East Germany. Can't complain.
