Le Meridien Grosvenor House

Has anyone been there? Any comments, whether good or bad about the hotel, the service, or location?

The location is good, built as part of Victoria station, with tube and bus connectioins in all directions, and 15 minutes walk from Buckingham Palace.

Welcome to London

Ben Haines

Would it be better to stay at LMGH or one in Mayfair, like The Fleming's or Chesterfield? Or perhaps The Reubens? I found a good deal at Grosvenor, and it says 5 star - it is supposed to be that nice? Sometimes their own hype is misleading. Well, thanks for the advice!

Ben, I stayed there a week many years ago when it was the Grosvenor(at Victoia Station. I remember when visiting London's friends came to pick me up and were surprised that there were not chairs in the lobby. The reason was because the exit to the tube was right off the lobby. The staff was one of the best I ever encountered at that time. Has it changed much??? and most likely much more expensive?
I am sure most Londoners don't know the inside of most hotels, as here in Boston, unless you happen to dine at one. But Brianna, the location is fabulous.

Thank you! It seems to be pretty nice, I guess now it's a toss up between The Meridien Grosvenor or The Meridien Piccadilly. It is my fiancees first time to London, so I want a hotel that is very central for all the tourist-trap stuff, and also a good, fun nightlife. I also value a clean and courteous hotel! Does anyone know if The Meridien Piccadilly is nearby (walking) to Piccadilly Circus?
Well, thanks again!

I think the Meridien Piccadilly is closer to nightlife than Grosvenor.

Brianna The Meridien Piccadilly is almost across the street from Piccadilly Circus.Great location very close to the theatre district. Technically the hotel is in Mayfair, I believe. I personally like the location of this hotel much better then the Grosvenor- Victoria station and it's surroundings are a little "seedy". You can't go wrong at Flemings or the Chesterfield either. Both are lovely hotels in the heart of Mayfair. They are right around the corner from each other, and walking distance to the theatre district and many sights. The closest tube stop to these hotels is Green Park-two minutes walk.

I wound up reserving at The Flemings...got a great price, under $200 each night, VAT included. Hopefully it won't be too far from all the sites? I figured we could just take a taxi to any good nightclubs at night (will be there Thurs and Fri), with any luck not too much of a haul. Have you stayed at Flemings? It got a 4 stars rating, while Meridien was 5 stars, but The Flemings looked awfully cute on their website. Well, we'll see. I will post about it after we go I guess! Thanks so much for all the help!

Hi, we stayed at the Grosvenor House for 10 days in December. A very large 2 bdrm apartment. A little shabby but comfortable. The only down side is the food prices! Service was poor, but a great location. Hope that helps.

I have reservations at the Grosvenor-my travel brochure states that it is on Park Lane facing Hyde Park- on my map Victoria Station appears far from the location. Am I missing something?

RB-
That's what I thought too!!! I was wondering if the posts were getting confused with another hotel that had "Grosvenor" in the name. It did look pretty nice online, but then I read some of the comments from "rants and Raves" in the hotel section of this website, and some of the comments weren't that great. Who knows though - everyone has different experiences at hotels. Anyway, I booked at Fleming's Mayfair, it looked really cute (hopefully!). Good luck with Le Meridien!

Thanks. I got a bit nervous when I read the rants and raves too but there is nothing I can do now...I've got to remember past experiences where I had a beautiful room at a gorgeous hotel and the stopped up toilet and the handle fell of the door as we were leaving for dinner...but still had a great vacation.
Anyway, have a good and safe trip!

The Grosvenor at Victoria Station is one of the Thistle chain, I think. The Grosvenor House Hotel is on Park Lane and is a lot more expensive and IMO not as convenient but is much fancier.
