Gosh, a good question.
What appeals to you? Where do you think you might like to go?
Where have you found that you can fly roundtrip for $300.00. SF, Las Vegas, Hawaii, Portland Or.??????
Maybe Mexico???
Like in, what period of time? December, January, February, March, April, or ???
Not trying to be a smart alex but think you need to figure out when you want to go, what type of vacation you want, go on sites and find out where you can go for $300.00 roundtrip.
Than when you have that solved and have some questions about where you are traveling too I am sure some posters here will be happy to answer your questions.

Are you trying to fly from LAX to Europe for that price? If so I think you are out of luck. Off hand I am thinking that price will get you to Las Vegas, Pasadena or Pomona but not to Europe. If you are looking for a stateside trip I would second the above reply to check the rates and post this on the United States board. Good luck.

In Jan '03 I flew LA to Dublin on Aer Lingus for $315 (incl taxes). I'm sure it is probably more expensive now, but Aer Lingus is trying to recreate themselves as a low cost long distance carrier. I would check their website for sales.

Apparently you told Ira the timeframe so why not the rest of us???
I'd take the suggestion of signing up for one of the engine's notification schemes and wait to see what comes up.
Anyone who tells you "you cannot fly to Europe from LAX for a (certain) amount of money" apparently knows about every sale and every deal that will ever arise.
Whereas, historically, it may be UNLIKELY it is plain stupid to say "never" about any possible airfare.
Good luck.

TopMan - I don't undestand why you always have to answer every post so rudely. First of enjoylife didn't tell us her timeframe, Ira was probably using Jan-Feb as a reference because historically that is the time when you can get your best deals on airfare.
Secondly, gardlyloo suggested travelocity, r007 suggested Aer Lingus and I suggested Travel Zoo for e-mail notifications of airfare sales.
And lastly, although the people here expressed doubt of getting that airfare, no one used the word NEVER.
Enjoylife's question was vague and all of us are more than willing to help if we have a little more information about travel time, intestests, budgets, etc.

HI--*if* you are flying in the US, you can go anywhere if you watch for bargains. I know that jdraper was exaggerating for effect, but from personal experience, I know you can fly to BOS, NY, DC, Chicago and even Orlando--altho most from LA are probably not interested in that destination--for $300 RT or even less. I am not saying those prices are available all the time, but one can watch the airline websites. If you were talking about Europe, it would seem unlikely.
