For those of you who don't personally know my mother, AKA 66/Hardy, let me start by saying that being without her mobile device for any length of time must have been hell. So sorry 62, that you had to go through that with her! Though, I must confess, I've been sitting on my computer waiting for the Chanel tour report. I'm willing to bet that 66 is now deciding which bag she "NEEDS" to purchase. Because we all know that the other 15 designer bags that sit in her closet waiting to be used, really need a new friend! Also, waiting to hear if you have found the perfect pistachio macaroon.
You might want to consider purchasing a chain for your glasses at this point 66. I wouldn't want you to loose your glasses and miss seeing another piece of "eye candy"! I'm still laughing about that one.

You are right about the apple not falling far from the tree!
Can't wait to see what comes home in the extra luggage. Maybe I should have taken my son to Paris to recover but I don't think he would have done as well as he's done on his own.
I'm loving traveling with you and 62. Keep the story coming.

If you get away from Mona, the Winged Victory and the Venus, the rest of the Louvre is relatively empty. However, the hordes and the heat had me remove The Louvre from the list the first week in August when I was in Paris. Hopefully, in September things will have eased up now that all the kids are back in school.

Be sure to keep your Metro tickets with you until you are back out of the subway. I tossed mine after going through the turnstile because I kept mixing up my used tickets and my unused tickets. There was a Metro police hanging out just around the corner. The fine was more than 40 Euros. Yuck.

Tuesday ate at Paul's for breakfast-you know, typical croissant, on and coffee. What could be better.
Took metro to rue de rivoli. Took the Paris walks tour for Chanel. wonderful tour
Heard about Chanel's life-where she worked lived how her life began we would walk a little and then the tour woman would show pictures and talk. Had an opportunity to go into the flagship store of Chanel's. The tour woman was so interesting and knowledgable. he tour lasted about three hours. It ended at Hermes so went in to look around. Oh the scarves are incredible. May have to slip one of those babies into my luggage. I don't think we walked over two miles but really do not know
62 and I had lunch at Laudree ending with a macaron. we felt like real ladies the salon is so elegant.
Then we hit the streets and did not stop shopping for about five hours. Maille, Arche shoes, Lipault luggage, Galleries and Printemps. We were just looking at everything we could so we could decide what we wanted for Thursday's shopping day. We managed to put a very nice list together.
We stopped for some hot chocolate outside of Printemps. Best stuff I have ever had. Cost 7.50 euros so it should have been. Lots of heavy whipped cream. It was just the perfect shot of energy to carry on withd the shopping.
to my daughter-you will be surprised to know that I loved last season's collection of purses at Chanel but do not care for the new collection. So
guess I will not be coming home with a C purse but because I do not want to disappoint my friends back home in my closet I will have to a find something to keep them all company. Oh the sacrifices I make are so enormous.
Stores closed at eight and we got a cab at seven forty five. Back to hotel ten minute change.and left for dinner reservations at nine. we got directions from desk clerk and since we were running late 62 grabbed my arm and tried to help me along. It was like a terrible death march walking with her. It was cool when we left so had on sweater and coat.we had very soon clear directions, only a 20 minute walk. Of course we zinged instead of taking the zag and were lost but. Knew we were close. 66
stopped and asked the crepe man he said is back over there.
WHat the heck does that mean,but we headed that way then saw some police and I walked up to them and asked in French if they spoke English. I was so proud of myself. I ,think when they saw me sweating like a water faucet they took pity on us and looked up the address.
then the most incredible thing happen, one of the officers walked us Down the street and escorted us to the door. there are sometimes that old age works in your favor. Just wonder what they might have done with younger chicks?

Ah yes, sometimes old age works in your favor! Love that nice story. My own knowledge of French (from 2 years of it in high school) will only allow me to order red wine! Haha! Although, it's funny how some words (basic ones) come back after all these years.

This is going to be a little bit out of order. We are now in the apartment. Shower time this morning. We are very lucky to have two showers. I took the very little wider opening to get in and 62 took the other one. The step up into the shower is about two feet.why is this necessary. If the shower floods it will eventually overflow. It seems the French take the hardest route for everything. Everything was washing along nicely with the hand held but how to turn the overhead on. I pushed. Every thing available but no overhead. Oh well. I was happy with the hand held and a shower door can I get an amen! CBut when I went to turn the shower off, the overhead came on and it was freezing. Note to self. Turn half way for hand held and all the way for overhead and stop it half way to turn off. By the time I figure toilets, showers, door keys, where to look for crossing the street. And when I can cross with and without a light. I just cross when everyone else crosses and figure it will be a group death. Back to the shower. With two fake knees getting out was dicey but made it. Would have been nice to have a little ladder. Then spied a heater above me with a chain. Ok I know how to pull a chain wonderful warmth while I am drying. Now it is beginning to get two warm I mean sweating hot. Do not want to climb back into the cube to shower again. The shower will hereafter be. Referred to as the cube. I pulled the chain to shut it off no turn off. I pulled that chain down straight sideways and nothing worked. I. Must have pulled it 42 times and 62 did ten times It just keep getting hotter and hotter. 62 came back from croissant shopping and she tried. Nothing worked. Oh we are such geniuses at figuring things out. We read the apartment manual. It shuts off automatically in fifteen minutes. Hope it works. I will just air dry next time. we are hoping it shuts off in fifteen and not 52 times 15!

Back to police dinner. We ate at Le reminet. small intimate. Very few tables lit candles. So very nice.
since I had been on the death march with coat and sweater and it must have been 100 degrees inside I immediately stripped Down to almost my barest of essentials.
food was wonderful. I started with six oysters. I live in Maine a and have had oysters but these were absolutely the very best. Could have eaten six more. dinner took three hours. Lovely time talking and laughing. Took cab home exhausted as we are every evening

Wednesday. Moving day. Breakfast at Paul's. since we were in the area went to Delacroix museum , very lovely garden below his studio. Looked for Henri LaRoux, wanted his caramels. I had them shipped in from Fr,acne several years ago. He now has a store on St Dominque so will get them in the 7th. ,shopped at that wonderful pharmacy on rue de four. S
o many goodies to look at. Back to hotel for cab to apt. Unpacked quickly since Ralstonlan and husband are coming for drinks at four. Ran out to get cheese on rue clear bought about a pound of salted butter omg so wonderful. And picked up champagne and paves at Michael Chaudon.
family members at home all want the paves. They are absolutely the best.
Of course, another wonderful time with new friends. Planning to get together at home.
Got ready for Platee at
garner. French buffoon opera. Great costumes. Back to apartment after midnight for champagne cheese and bread. What a life. Certainly as good as it gets

I'm terribly concerned with all of the chalanges that the two of you have been experiencing. I say this because 66 knows how to navigate Paris better than any US city! As far as the laundry and "cube" troubles, I'm on the floor with tears running down my face. This leads me to my BRILLIANT conclusion.....
62 and 66 YOU NEED ME!!!! So for your next trip, I will make a huge sacrifice of my time, to chaperone the two of you. I know, brilliant right?
