"Laughing Men sculpture" in Porto
Can anyone tell me anything about the various sculptures in Campo dos mártires da Pátria. Oporto. Portugal that look like laughing men on bleachers? Artist/title???
A Google search hasn't been productive.

I think this is what you are asking?

not in english but a quick summary is they are in memory of the liberal freedom fighters for the country, taken to justice at that same plaza inMay and October of 1829.

Thanks, lincasanova, that is the sculpture I was asking about.
Are you able to tell me any more about it or the liberal freedom fighters? Am I right in thinking the sculptures would represent the conservative spectators? Do you know which issues they were supporting?
This is becoming more interesting.

You would do best to look up portuguese history and those dates. must have been executions or something. All I quickly read was " the martyrs who fought for the freedom ".. sorry. It IS interesting. Please post what you find out for us!
