Yes. Most bars are oprn late i.e. 1:30-2pm on the weekends. They laws have xchanged over the past few years and larger pubs are open late and there are many places if the oub you are in is closing. Just ask any of the bar staff for places. Let me know what types of places are you looking for and I can suggest some places.

SiobhanP - we leave next saturday and spend the following Sat & Sun in Dublin with our 18 yr old son. He's a guitar player and huge music fan (my husband too)- and I mean just about any kind. Any particular places you can suggest would be greatly appreciated.

John while I do understand the warning its not that bad if you avaoid temple bar in the centre late night. I live here and was out most of this weekend after midnight...and I am not 21 unfortunately
.
Some place that would be good are The Porterhouse - Micro Brewery on the end of Temple Bar on the corner of Parliament Street. There is live music most nights and a fun atmosphere over 3 floors. Tey serve food as well. (This would be good with the 18 year old)
Places I personally would go:
Market Bar - Between Drury and Georges Street Serves tapas as well
Hogans- Good early on gets pasked on weekends. Mostly DJ music. Younger crownd downstairs older upstairs.
Long Hall - Across from Hogans. Old fashioned pub a bit ornate in Decor but relaxed crowd - Georges street.
Cafe en seine - Expensive but worth a pint or two. Huge place over 3 floors. Go to see the decor or go in the daytime for a coffee. Don't stay as its a rip off late at night.
Hairy lemon - Fun normal pub that plays DJ music of all the songs you know. Good to bring a crod in and stay upstairs. Serves food.
Chilled more upmarket would be the CLarendon bar - Wines by the glass and top floor has a lovely view as its walled in glass. Toilets are funny i.e. the sink is a trough between the ladies and gents and you may have your hand grabbed for a laugh by the opposite side.
Keoghs - S. Ann Street off Grafton St.

thanks for the response I'll keep them in mind. they are printing as I type. We'll also be sure to be careful late at night - as we would in any large city. i can't imagine it's worse than new orleans and we've made it through there a few times. thanks again for the possible places to go.
