Naxos or Samos ?

Hi@
For 10 days in august 2018 i hesitate between naxos and samos.

I would like to stay along the waterfront where i can find myself just watching the world go by for a couple of hours!

I like beaches but just chilling out. I want a bit of nightlife too, not discos or clubs just lively tavernas ,bars..with tradionnal greek music /0r local festivities / intetnational festivals , have a stroll in laid back sreets ,visiting beautiful villages, amasing landscapes.

Any info would really help.

Thank you in advance

Both Islands are fine. Naxos is more touristy and popular with toourists from abroad, whereas you find more Greek vacationers ar Samos.
Naxos is a typical Cycladic Island: white cubic houses, very very windy.
The architecture at Samo is completely different and there is much less wind and a calmer sea.

Thank you very much for your reply.

To have an idea about the architecture of Samos, di you think that it is approximatively like skopelos or Parga ,or kephalonia?

As i visited patmos and lipsi ,what are in you opinion the most beautiful and scenic islands that i can vsit near samos?

please could you inform me about the most beautiful villages and sites i must visit in priority during my stay in Samos?

In order to stay in Pitaghorion Do you have please any nice adress of pension, studio or apartment to book with sea a view ?

If you have only 10 days, there is no need to go to another Island, you can easily spend them at Samos.

If you are interested in archeology, a day trip to Ephesos (or a 2days trip to Ephesos, Miletos and Priene) is a must.

The Islands of Fourni and Ikaria are nice too (in high season daily boats from Karlovasi), but not better than Samos.

There are daily beach boats from Pythagorio to Samioupola Island, but I prefer the beaches of Psili Ammos and the sandy beaches around Votsalakia.

Samos can be reached by direct ferries from Piraeus, Paros, Naxos, Syros, Mykonos and Kavala (via Lemnos - Lesbos - Chios) as well as by catamarans from Rhodos and Kos

Thank you very much for your reply. It is an excellent idea to visit ephesos
,miletos and prien and selcuk for 2 or 3 days!

Di you think that Fourni or Ikaria could be an eccellent excursion from Samos?

i program to spend 18 days in greece. So i can combinate samos with another island orlandscape as Messina coast in peloponnese (pylos, methoni ,koroni ),because i visited the lacony and Mani.

Another option could be skopelos ,skiathos and a flight from Thessaloniki to samos ? What do you think about this program?

In the cyclades the islands that t haven't visited are :Naxos ,Ios ,Andros ,Tinos Astypalaia and Milos.

Perhaps is it possible to combinate samos with one if them?

Could you advise for an lovely itinerary for 18 0r 21 days?

Thank you in advance.

Skiathos, Skopelos, Alonissos:
You can fly from Skiathos to Samos via Athens.

Naxos, Tinos, Andros:
direct ferries Samos - Naxos about twice weekly
direct ferries Samos - Syros almost daily
ferries from Syros to Naxos, Tinos, Andros daily in high season
Alternative:
flight to Athens - bus to Rafina - ferry to Andros - Tinos - Syros - Naxos.

Naxos - Ios (party Island): daily ferries from Naxos.

Astypalea is a gem.
Samos - Astypalea:
actually once weekly: Samos (Vathy) dp 15.10 - Naxos 22.15/23.55 - Astypalea ar 3.40am
or 3times weekly via Kalymnos:
Monday: Pythagorio dp 8.30 - Kalymnos 12.30/23.10 - Astypalea ar 01.30am
Monday and Wednesday: Pythagorio dp 15.30 - Kalymnos ar 23.30, sleep there, dp Tuesday and Thursday 7.00 - Astypalea ar 10.30

Thank you Neckervd's for all the details and the information.

There is also a direct flight from Thessaloniki to samos with Astra airlines and Skyexpress airlines. Both are greek companies.

From skopelos or Skiathos we can take a ferry to Thessaloniki( 3h35 from skopelos) ,spend 2 nights in Thessaloniki and flight to Samos.

I would like to ask you if it is possible
to keep the luggages in the hotel in samos, and have an excursion for 2 days in Turkey to visit epehsos and come back to Samos.Do you arranged like that your excursion to Ephesos from Samos ?

In the case i choose to visit ephesos aftet leaving Samos , di you think that it will interesting to go to Ayvalik and doend 1 or 2 nights thete and from Ayvalik ,i take the ferry to lesbos.?
(From Ephesos to Ayvalik is 3 hours by car).

Or second option :from ephesos to Cesme (1h50 by road )and from there to Chios.

Third option :from Selcuk to Bodrum(2h25) and from there to Kos.

But the question is to choose the most beautiful of the 3 greek islands and which is the worthest to make this itinerary from Turkey.?

All Islands are a bit different. It's almost impossible to make a ranking.
Have a look at the link I sent you 2 days ago and make a choice:
http://www.greeka.com/eastern_aegean/

All Eastern Aegean Islands can be combined with Turkey.
Lesbos makes sense if you visit the ancient city of Pergamon (and may be the ancient city of Assos).
Bodrum - Kos makes sense if you visit the ancient cities of Priene and Didimae.

IMO, Kos is neither particularly scenic nor particularly interesting (except the temple of Asklipios and the medieval cruisaders fortress, but for these kinds of things, Rhodos would be a much better choice).
