'Last Christmas' turns 30
There's been a minor celebration of sorts recently in Switzerland, particularly in Saas-Fee, to mark the 30th birthday of the Wham! holiday song, Last Christmas. If you feel like dipping a toe into the 1980s, watch the video in all its snowy and cheesy glory:

And if it's a song/video that makes you cringe, just move along, nuthin' to see here.

Timely thread. I am doing a Christmas Music Advent Calendar on Facebook and yesterday I posted "Last Christmas". The feedback was overwhelmingly negative.
Paste had this to say about the song:
Bonnie: What kind of cold-hearted monster dumps someone the day after Christmas? But the narrator’s no saint here, either. He’s says he’s going to spend this Christmas with “someone special,” but he’s obviously just using some poor girl to make his ex jealous as he admits, “once bitten and twice shy, I keep my distance, but you still catch my eye.” Nothing says “the holidays” like taking advantage of someone to spite a former lover!
Shane: Definitely sounds like the singer is still obsessed with the original girl, and that he’ll never be able to enjoy Boxing Day again.

Sparkchaser, that's too funny. You can't please everybody!
I like the Christmas Music Advent Calendar idea. If you want to give people a break from tradition and the same old same old about snow and winter, try this one:

Reading the lyrics, he is "berating" the old flame, but he's also saying that he's found a "real love". Never did like George Michael though. Here's the lyrics:
"Last Christmas"
Last Christmas
I gave you my heart
But the very next day you gave it away.
This year
To save me from tears
I'll give it to someone special.
Once bitten and twice shy
I keep my distance
But you still catch my eye.
Tell me, baby,
Do you recognize me?
Well,
It's been a year,
It doesn't surprise me
(Merry Christmas)
I wrapped it up and sent it
With a note saying, "I love you,"
I meant it
Now I know what a fool I've been.
But if you kissed me now
I know you'd fool me again.
Oh, oh, baby.
A crowded room,
Friends with tired eyes.
I'm hiding from you
And your soul of ice.
My god I thought you were someone to rely on.
Me? I guess I was a shoulder to cry on.
A face on a lover with a fire in his heart.
A man under cover but you tore me apart, ooh-hoo.
Now I've found a real love, you'll never fool me again.
A face on a lover with a fire in his heart (I gave you my heart)
A man under cover but you tore him apart
Maybe next year I'll give it to someone
I'll give it to someone special.
Special...
Someone...
