las alpurrajas/orgiva or antequera area - longer stay?

Jump to last reply

Hello all, our family is going to be in Spain for 3 months starting September. We had a great suggestion of Antequera as a place to stay but are finding accommodation harder to find there than other places. The region of Las Alpurrajas - lower towns like Orgiva - seems to have more choice of long lets. We are an active biking/hiking family with a small dog and two teens and would like to immerse ourselves in a town/countryside with good amenities and recreation and enjoy nice weather while there. Ideally I would like my 12 and 15 year olds to be able to interact with local kids. My daughter speaks Spanish so we might be able to have her attend a local school for a bit. And ideally we would want to be off the tourist track, not in gated community/golf course type developments.
Is the Orgiva area a good choice? will it be much colder than Antequera? As many things to do?
Thanks for any help you can provide!
KP
