He is currently in 8th place overall, 34 seconds behind the leader.

The finish was in Avranches and the helicopter views of Mont-Saint-Michel were magnificent. The stage will be rebroadcast on OLN later today. Here is today's TV schedule.

Saturday, July 13- Stage 7
9:30am-11:30am ET - Live!
3:00pm-5:00pm ET - Re-air of live coverage
9:00pm-11:00pm ET / 10:00pm-12:00am PT - Commentary & analysis of day's stage

The crash was not good, but surmountable. Here's Lance's comments today, after coming in second in the 52k time trial:
"It was not a good day for me, but it's not a surprise that Botero won."

(from the BBC web site at http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport/hi/english/other_sports/cycling/default.stm)

There's still plenty of time. Allez, Lance!

First, this is a travel board not a sport or cycle board. So, take this info somewhere where people really care about it. The fact that some guy riding a bike all over France had a little mishap is of NO INTEREST to us that want to learn about traveling. WHO CARES ANYWAY? It is just a bicycle race and has NO BEARING on my plans for travels. REPEAT!!!!!! WE DO NOT CARE AND DO NOT WANT TO HEAR ANYMORE ABOUT LANCE AND THE REST OF THESE TWO WHEELERS!!!!!!!!!

The OLN coverage is a pleasure to watch even if you are not a bike-racing fan. The photography from the helicopters is terrific; the aerial views give you an unusual way of appreciating the countryside.

Besides, bike races loom large in contemporary European life (the giro in Italia, the tour in Switzerland, an important one in Spain, the Paris-Roubaix, etc.) and it doesn't hurt for Americans to learn a bit about it-- who knows; you may be able to enter into a conversation about this popular sport on a European train or in a cafe or hostel or park. . . Widening one's perspective is never a bad idea; that's one of the things travel is supposed to do.

Calm down. Affectionately, J.
