Knee Scooters on Italy trains

[left]Hi there,

We we will be traveling across Italy on ItaliaRail. Does anyone know If I would be able to take a knee scooter like the one pictured below on a train without having to buy a hndicapped ticket? The scooter does fold down.

Thank you!

There is no ItaliaRail - that is a third-party booking company so go to www.trenitalia.com or www.italotreno.com - 2 competing actual railway companies using same tracks and stations - there is probably a place to e-mail questions - that said a small fold-down device can probably be carried on like any piece of luggage. But ask the source and also buy thru the source IMO - easy to book your own trains online and could be cheaper or not than ItaliaRail. www.seat61.com has loads on booking own tickets - general info trains BETS-European Rail Experts and www.ricksteves.com.

Can't get your image link to work - why not just show it here!

Italiarail sells Trenitalia tickets with a standard markup of about 5 US dollars as i recall. Some folks find the Italiarail site easier to use than Trenitalia's. You do NOT need to use BETS or the RickSteves sites unless that is your preference.

Against my better judgment, I tried to open this link. The brackets were a distraction. But any link that contains the word 'fake" is risky. So far, nothing has happened except further useless links. I hope the webpage moderator takes a look at this.

I don't think a moderator will see this buried in a thread about Italian trains. You might want to post your concerns on the Tech Support forum . . . or you can click the triangle and send a message directly to the Moderators.

I am seeing the image now. Is there a bag for it? If you need a knee scooter, getting on and off Italian trains may be an issue. My friend found it a challenge last month (and does not use a knee scooter). But if this folds down to luggage size, I can't see an issue.

Best email trenitalia or italotreno and clarify.
