Killarney and Galway overnight or daytrip from Limerick

As mentioned previousely we have a free hotel in limerick. My question is that can we do daytrips from Limerick to Galway and Killarney. Are we missing anything by not overnighting in these places.

I loved Galway and if possible would recommend an overnight there -- go to the pubs for good trad music and craic. IMO it's well worth an overnight if you can. I haven't read earlier post so don't know if you have restrictions.

Killarney was lovely but for me less interesting than Galway but then I like the city/culture.

Thanks, we do have children with us age 6 and 10. We do plan on going to the pubs, however I know they will need to be out by 9pm.

As I pointed out before, your main loss is travelling time, and I would consider that a good reason to spend a night or two somewhere in Co. Kerry (not necessarily Killarney).

Limerick to Galway is an easier day-trip - a little over an hour each way.

A general point: pubs generally do not become lively before 10 p.m., and your entertainment options might be limited, especially in the off-season.

There are a couple of pubs in Galway that have early entertainment all year. Don't think Limerick or Killarney has that option.

Now I am Biased because I live in east Galway/Clare but an Overnight in Galway gives options on the way up and the way down which could take a day either side of the night. Heading up the coastal route and down inland as far as Lough Derg vice versa. There are options in Salthill by Galway if the weather is rough with the Sea Life Centre and Leisure Centre.
