Kilkenny or Cashel for overnight?

We plan on spending one night in the Kilkenny/Cashel region. I was interested in hearing what you think is a better place to stay. We will be heading onto Kinsale the next day. Also, are there other towns in this area that are better one-night bases?
Thanks in advance!

Just off the top of my head, I would pick Kilkenny over Cashel. There are more things to do in Kilkenny and better dining options. Didn't get to Kinsale but I hear it is beautiful.
Have a wonderful trip. Ireland is amazing and the people lovely.

Thanks for the suggestion! Someone else mentioned that Cashel is a more interesting town to stay in, but I didn't know whether it was any more difficult to get to Kinsale from there...

Kelly, Where are you coming from before Kilkenny/Cashel. That may well decide which place you stay.

Hi IrishEyes,
We will be driving down from Dublin. And then after our stop in Kilkenny/Cashel area, we'll be heading on to Kinsale.
