Just returned from Europe, Any questions?

My family and I just retuned from a "whirl-wind" tour of Europe. London, Paris, Luzerne, Piza, Florence, Rome, Venice, Innsbruck, Munich (not much time there), The Rhine River Cruise, and Amsterdam. Any questions I will be more than happy to try to help.

I have a question. I'm going to France, Germany, Switzerland and Austria next spring. I'd like to take a cruise on the Rhine, but didn't know if it was worth the money. Is it?

Hello... Iam wondering how long your vacation was and did you rent a car or take the train ? How long were you in Paris and what did you think of Rome? On my next trip to Europe we are thinking of just the Tuscany area and Venice and not going south to Rome;I have seen quite a few negative posts about Rome( crime, etc) and am undecided. What do you think of Luzerne?...Thanx...Patty

We are going on a honeymoon to Paris and
London in November. What do you recommend in Paris, and what do you recommend for countryside excursions from London. Thank You
To Jeff - yes, take a Rhine cruise. Or better yet, take the train (or you can drive too if you're renting a car), and stop and explore the castles along the river. We used Rudeshiem as our base and explored 3-4 castles, don't remember the names though. Also did a cruise, was reasonably priced.

Where in London did you stay and for how long. My husband and I are looking to vacation in central London but are not having much luck locating a hotel or b&B. Any suggestions?
Phil-we just returned from London/Paris/Loire Valley. You couldn't pick two better cities to honeymoon in!

It would be helpful if you said what your interests are. Do you like visiting castles/palaces, museums, shopping, eating, theater? My favorites in London are Hampton Court (about a 1/2 hour outside London), the Tower of London and Westminster Abbey. I also enjoyed trips to Windsor Castle, Bath and Oxford which you can combine with Blenheim Palace. There's a lovely ceremony at the Tower of London called the Ceremony of the Keys at 9:30 p.m. You must get tickets far in advance, let me know if you need the info.

In Paris, be sure to get a Carte Musee for admission into the museums. There are 60-70 museums including the Louvre, Musee d'Orsay (a must if you like impressionist painting), the towers of Notre Dame (great view of Paris and the gargoyles). You can get a 1, 3 or 5 day pass I believe and the best part is that you can skip the admission lines.

If you haven't already planned your passage from London to Paris, you might consider the Eurostar, 3 hours total trip. We made the mistake of taking the bus. You should book before you go, its actually more expensive to buy tickets in Europe especially if you're traveling on a weekday.

You might consider the Loire Valley in France for your country excursions. The TGV from Paris to Tours takes 55 minutes and the chateaux are fabulous.

Scott-send request to:

Ticket Request
Ceremony of the Keys
Waterloo Block
HM Tower of London
London EC3N 4AB
UK

Enclose a letter with the following information:

-How many tickets
-names and addresses of all people in party
-date you would like to attend
-alternate dates

Enclose a self addressed envelope and 2 international reply coupons (or a self addressed stamped envelope if you live in the UK)which you can get at the post office.

I don't remember exactly how long it took to get the tickets, maybe 2-3 weeks.
I sent off in July for tickets in Sept. I wasn't able to get my first choice so its important to list alternate dates.

The Ceremony takes place at 9:30 pm, don't be late or they'll leave without you.
