jnn, you'll need an adapter, a transformer, a voltage regulator, a converter, a vibrator, and a pair of jumper cables. Good luck!

sheila: The list is incomplete. There would be at least three responses that would state "I have the light bulb, please tell where to place it.

And 47 of them would take the opportunity to tell them exactly where to place it.

Problem reading or seeing? Change the bulb. Buy 100 watt lamp/bulbs at a local store. Ensure base is same as in lodging supplied fixtures.

Hi all,

i am thinking about possibly planning a trip to australia sometime or other. i have heard that below the equater the seasons are reversed and that the water turns the other way when it goes down the drain.

if i have to change a lightbulb in australia, do i screw it in in the opposite direction???????

all information about where to go, what to do, what to see, where to stay, where and what to eat will be greatly appreciated.

OK. I have the adapter, transformer, a voltage regulator, a converter, a vibrator, and a pair of jumper cables...and of course the light bulb.

My question is, how can I pack all of this so nothing gets wrinkled?

I leave in 2 months! Help!

Marilyn: your solar power reply to "dear ici" induced the image of vibrator use on a sun drenched beach, which led to the thought of an entire nudist colony happily buzzing away en masse among the sand dunes.

Thanks to you, the next time I doze off on a beach blanket in the sand and hear a droning noise nearby, I won't assume it's mosquitoes.

Which is cheaper: purchasing the light bulb and having it mailed to me before I leave on my trip OR buying it once I am there?
If I buy it there should I go for a carnet of bulbs OR is a daily bulb a better deal? Is there a weekend bulb? What about a 7 day bulb? ;-)

Rick Steves to buy your bulbs fresh from mom-and-pop bulbardiers; don't gamble with the pre-packaged ones sold by Gypsy children for next to nothing. Turns out that's what they're worth. I must have gone through a dozen before I figured out that something labeled "50 whats" was not the real deal. Sheesh.

I don't know why you would ever want to change a light bulb - incandecent light fixtures are overrated. Instead what you should do is: 1) maximize the natural light through additional windows/skylights/reflectors - south facing is best. 2) use dripless candles.

reneeinva, you can't PACK such valuables, you silly girl!! You must carry them on. Think of what a dark nightmare your trip would be if they were lost in transit! Be sure to allow an extra few hours going through security -- I have always found them very interested in esoteric electronic devices.
