Well, I'm finally back.My trip was wonderful if not a bit on the quiet side. Noticable difference in "hearing" Americans there, everyone was pretty silent. We were able to stay in our 15th Century Chateau, something from The Haunting, or Addams Family Values...Did get an upgrade at the Louvre Hotel, thanks to a fodorite tip! Saw a lot of English travelers, but not many Americans. If anyone has any questions I'd be glad to share what we've found.

Mike, we stayed at the Chateau de Jallanges in Vouvray, and the Chateau du Marcay near Chinon. The Chateau de Jallanges was restored from the 15th century. The chateau had set vacant for over 10 years before being purchased by its present owner. The web site gives only a glimpse of the true feel of this place. It was almost like time had stood still while the chateau lived its own nightmare. This may not be a place for everyone, but the rooms were clean and the breakfast very good. <BR>I've been to Paris about 9 times, even tried a few of the restaurants reviewed here by other fodorites. I actually haven't found many places I don't like. With good wine, everything seems to fall in place. The dinners at the Chateau Marcay were 4 star, excellent in presentation and taste, but a little pricey to enjoy.

Elaine, <BR>I believe we paid about 259.00 per night with a full breakfast and 2 dinners (6 nights stay).If you have an American Airlines FF #, you can apply for a "Prestige Card". This is a cobranded card with the airline/hotel. I applied online at their website. It allowed me to get an upgraded room, and an earlier check in. We stayed in a suite on the 4th floor corner. I don't know if it was our romm staus, or the lack of tourists, but everyone greeted us by name, and waiting on us hand and foot.I've never been disappointed at this hotel, even though it is on a busy street.

Kim, I don't believe anything has been filmed here due to the fact the owner bought the property in 1984, and before that it had been abandoned. As he is quite the "name dropper", I'm sure he would have mentioned it. It would however be a great place for a movie, a little on the horror side, but definatly authentic.

Sally, I thimk this is the same card as I have. You can apply directly at the Concorde Hotel website. It took me about 6 weeks to receive it, but the number will be in the system immediatly. This tip has been used by a few travelers so far with good results.
