Just Back from Fabulous Trip to Puglia

I just returned from an 11-day trip to Puglia. We spent the first three nights in Trani, the next four in Conversano and the last three in Lecce. Saw many towns and sights in between.

A trip report will be forthcoming but just wanted to say "hi" and help answer questions anyone might have, in the meantime.

I would love to hear any thing you have on this trip, where you stayed, places you saw. I am thinking about that area for my next Italy trip, but am not finding a wealth of information on it.

There was a big spread on the area in the Sunday New York Times about a week or two ago. It's probably available on their website. Looked much more interesting than I'd expected. I'm excited to get Flame's report. Looking forward to it.

Topping.

I can't wait for your report, Flame. I would love to hear how the weather was a this time of year, as Puglia is on my list for spring break next year.

For anyone planning a trip to Puglia, I would highly recommend a trip to Matera, which is in neighboring Basilicata, about a two hour drive from Conversano (did you stay at the agriturismo Montepaolo?) Matera is one of the most fascinating places as the old city is built into the cliffs. The Passion of Christ was filmed there. It is well worth a detour from Puglia.
