just back from Dublin...

I've just returned from a week in Dublin.
Stayed at Number 31 (www.number31.ie) which was fabulous. The room was really, really nice, the breakfasts were great, the location was good, and the staff was quite gracious.

Best thing I did was rent a cell phone. There are a number of places to do it, but I chose Ace Telecom (www.acetelecom.com). I had a US number, so it was easy for people from the States to reach me, but it worked all over Ireland.

If you're staying in the city, save money by taking the Air Coach bus into town. It's only 6 euro, comes every 15 minutes and stops at all the major hotels. A taxi is about 22-25 euro.

How much was the cell phone or will you not know till you get the credit card bill? Do you set it up here first or wait til you got to Dublin?

jejuna,

Hope you did not make or receive too many calls. Just looked at the call cost for receiving calls which is $1.69 per min. Caling home is also expensive at $2.29 per min.

I am traveling next month to Ireland for 10days and want to rent a phone for my trip.

Can anyone comment on the following prepaid rental options. The prepaid call costs appear to be a lot cheaper.

http://www.cellularabroad.com
http://www.buyundercost.com/RENT_CTRY_ireland_DTL.shtml
http://www.rentaphone-ireland.com

The last company seem the cheapest when you add in shipping costs and the price of a SIM card.

Thanks,

Tim

Can you tell me how much 31 was a night? Weekend or weekday?

There website doesn't list prices!

Did you spend all of your time in Dublin? Is there enough to do for a week? What did you find as "must sees",
"must buys" and "must eats"?
