Hi,
In response to your questions...
We stayed at a place we got through Interval International as our base in Mougins for a week and rented a car...we spent some time in Nice and the Cour Mirabeau is still under reinivation...the graphetti in Nice is unreal--we were there a few years ago and it wasn't like that, but I still love the Chagall Museaum and Modern Art Museum and found a great pizza place from a reco on the Internet called Piazza Massena at 2 rai Massena--great salads too...did side trips all over including Vence and St. Paul de Vence and a wonderful glass museum in Biot and an incredible little village called Gourdon (the old town of Mougin is wonderful too--the Photo gallery of Picasso well worth it if you're a fan)..then drove to Aix where we stayed at a delightful small hotel called Hotel Pigonnet and took the TGV to Paris. We had a Marriott rewards certificate which we used for the Marriott Hotel Champs Elysees and bought museum card and did the Louve, d'Osay, Rodin, Pompido, Sain Chapell, and Arc de Tromphe, plus Norte Dam, Basilique du Sacre as well as a really terrific jazz club called Le Bilboquet and went to see Don Quichotte at the Opera Bastille. Had dragged fancy clothes around for the balled, but was surprised when the audience looked as if they could have been from Seattle (where I live)--some people even were wearing jeans. Oh, yes--a restaurant we loved in Paris was Le Grade Cafe, 4 boulevard des Capucines, by the Opera Gardnier--wonderful food and stained glass decor. Our trip was wonderful except for problems with Hertz and not making train reservations in advance form the U.S. on our Eurail passes and for being ripped off by taxi drivers. Any other questions? Also, Beth-- sorry about not being able to get through my e-mail. (I knew a Beth Anderson in Grad school--at UNM--are you her?)
Have fun,
Paula
P.S. I met up with a Fodor's group in Paris that Susan Wright had gotten together on the Internet. It was great fun. Would suggest others doing it. Oh, and Mark is fine and funning a shuttle co. that we all should use.
Paula,
My husband and I are thinking about a trip to Southern France/Italy. We also belong to Interval Internat. Did you book your trip through them or just exchange your time share?

Actually, XXX has a point. If you wanted to find anything Paula had visited, on the internet, say, you'd have a helluva time. She got about 1 percent of the spellings right. And she's offering herself to answer questions, so you'd think she'd be a tad bit more careful.

Don't you people have something better to do other than spell-check people's posts. Get a life, yo!

Sorry 'bout the spelling xxx and yyy(are you related?)--I have a Ph.D. but can't spell worth s--- (neither can my daughter who has 160 IQ--so go figure--but for your info--there's no correlation between IQ and spelling ability) I'm still unpacking abd feeling very positive from our trip, so really don't have time for your negativity, but wanted to offer helpful hints as so many KIND people at Fodors had offered me much valuable advise...
Kierin (I assume that's the way you spell it?)--yes, I booked through II--we stayed at GVC in Mougins, which was fine--good location for touring area with car, helpful staff--not nearly as nice as the Marriott in Marbella, but I hear the Residence Cap d'Ail is really nice. I don't know anything about II in Italy, but if you stay at a place there, I'd really like to know how you find it. I booked both Spain and France about 8 months in advance.
Good luck and have a great trip.
Paula
P.S. Desi, the weather in Paris was mostly fine--but I'm from Seattle, so I'm used to rain. (It only rained one day that week.)

Dear Paula,

Thank you for taking the time to write about your trip to France. I can not believe how rude some people can be to criticize your spelling when all you are trying to do is help all us travelers. Thanks again.

Paula,

We will be going to Paris next year and are attempting to utilize our Marriott points. I would also like to know how you liked staying in that area of Paris as my alternative is to stay in St. Germain and use the point in Rome or the Cote D'azur at another time.
