Junior Suite at Del Senato in Rome
Have those of you who have stayed at the Albergo del Senato in Rome ever stayed in one of their junior suites? I know that their standard rooms are rather small and wanted to see whether the junior suite was significantly larger than the typical double rooms there, which I have already seen. Has anyone seen the junior suites?

I've stayed in one. The alcove was nice, but friends were staying in a double at the same time and I actually liked their room a little better--it didn't seem THAT small to me.
I wouldn't pop for a junior suite again myself, but I'd be curious to know what their real suites are like (if they have them?).
Regardless, I like the hotel. Funny guys at the front desk. We had a good time there.

Last summer, we stayed in a suite at the Del Senato. There were three of us (husband, wife and sister). When booking, we thought we had booked a suite with two separate bedrooms. Upon arrival, we found that we had one large, beautiful room (phenomenal ceiling) and an area with a twin bed outside the bathroom (dressing area). This definitely is not what we expected. My sister’s lack of privacy was not comfortable for any of us. When we talked to management, and explained our expectations, they arranged for a single room immediately (very reasonably) . She loved it! It overlooked the Pantheon. We thought the hotel was great, staff very friendly/helpful, and the location was fantastic. Have a wonderful trip!

We've stayed in room 602 which is a Senior Suite a few times. It has a livin room with a double sofabed and down a hallway is the main bedroom, bathroom and french doors leading onto a huge terrace overlooking the Pantheon. Both the living room and bedroom have their own doors so it's private, but the person sleeping in the living room would have to go through the main bedroom to get to the bathroom. It's fine for families with children.

Leely: do you recall which double your friends had that you liked? My friends are going to Rome for the first time, and I thought the Del Senato sounded like a great place for them. If I can get specific room numbers it would be such a help!

Happy Cheesehead,
Unfortunately, I don't remember (was almost 2 years ago). Their room faced the Pantheon (so did our junior suite) and it was maybe on the 4th floor or so. We were on the first floor (not ground floor). I thought their ceilings were higher.
I should say, however, that there was indeed a door between the alcove/reading/single-sleeping room and the bedroom in our suite.
I'm not really picky about hotels, but I wouldn't hesitate to recommend a stay at the Del Senato. Unless your friends need something truly lavish I'd go ahead and tell them to book. But definitely try to get a room with a view!
