Jules Verne-Lunch Prix Fix Menu

Hi,

I made reservations at the Jules Verne restaurant. We will be going with the 57 Euro lunch prix fix menu. Do you get an appetizer, main entre, and dessert with this daily special? If not, what is included in the daily prix fix meal? Can you drink the water that is served in the glasses without having to worry about getting sick? I read in a post a soda is 8 Euro. While I am not cheap, I do not like being taken advantage over a situation. How long should one plan to have a lunch consisting of the daily lunch special? I heard a meal can take as long as 3 hours? Also, what is a customary tip in France for such a restaurant, 10-15-20-25%? Can one access the top level of the tower after leaving the restaurant?

Merci, Al

Jeez, I hope this is a troll. "Can you drink the water?" "Customary tip in France." And that's not all....

Well, I had at first read that line as being able to drink it instead of buying water by the bottle. And yes, a soda does cost 8€ at most restaurants in Paris. The prix fixe lunch at JV will give you so much to eat that you won't need dinner. There are numerous amuse bouches and the time taken a number of hours.

Didn't see the rest. Yes, you can pay to go up to the top on that level. And the service is compris in the price of the prix fixe.

So Gretchen, you're saying no additional tip should be given for the service at Jules Verne?

We didn't tip when we were there. The situation for paying was such that it wasn't convenient and, I would venture to say, expected. With the conditions set out by the OP I would say it certainly won't be expected in his case.

Tipping is not necessary. We may leave maybe a maximum of 5% for good service, or round up to the nearest round figure.
And yes, you can drink tap water, but I doubt that they will provide that. You can sometimes ask for a carafe d'eau, but usually you get bottled water.

We had a carafe of water--no problem. We did leave an extra tip--small, but just to say thank you.
