Juan les pins as Riviera base?

I stayed in Juan Les Pins two years ago and didn't care for it much. Later I read in Conde Nast Traveler that is considered the poor cousin to Antibes. I did go over to Antibes and found it much more charming with a Picasso museum and historical buildings. It depends on what you are wanting to do, it does have a decent beach but that isn't really my interest when I am in Europe.

Don't do Juan Les Pins unless you're a twenty-something dance club cutie who loves to get high, hang out and dance all night. On the other hand, Villefranche-sur-Mer is an absolutely charming, pretty and very small town 5 minutes from Nice by train, with a very convenient train station. I love Nice, but am seriously thinking of staying in the Hotel Welcome in Villefranche on my next trip.
