Thanks for mentioning the cafe next to the Leo Panzio...that's the hotel where I'm staying this June.

< It was few pieces by a Swedish guy named Grieg, and it was great. >

Just to clarify, I think it's supposed to be Edvard Grieg, and he was Norwegian. Did they play an opera by Grieg or was it a concert?

Are you going to one of the famous thermal baths? That's what I would do if I were there right now - and if it were as overcast and blustery as it is here in Ontario (OK, I admit: we've had 4 superlative days of balmy sun before the rain.....)

Sorry about Grieg. They played some of Peer Gynt and I am not really sure what else.

I did not do the baths.

I am in Berlin now and will start a new thread.

Joe, we are leaving for Budapest in 7 weeks so I am very interested in your thread. Did you hear anything about the Museum of Applied Arts? Also, what streets in Budapest did you find especially memorable?

I did not make it to the Museum of Applied Arts, but I have heard good things about it and the building that it is in.

I liked the area Heroes Square, Vaci U and another square that I will have to look up.

The other square I liked was Victory Square.

I can't find my receipt for the cake place I discussed, but it is like the next building over from Leo Panzio. You have to pay first and then bring your ticket up to the counter to get the cake.

I don't think the OP JoeTro is around on Fodors anymore, but I've always enjoyed his art-focused trip reports. Just reading up on this one on Budapest.
