England still has one of the lowest levels of unemployment in the Western World. There are a lot of opportunities in London and Dublin for someone with good finance background. Visas are not a obstacle if you are good - can now be processed in less than a week if the company is willing to pay. When you get here - there are many recruitment agencies that deal specifically in finance. Dublin is experiencing a skills shortage and therefore lots of jobs in finance (companies are relocating to Ireland for tax reasons). Getting job in the UK requires patience and money to pay rent whilst you are looking. Its worth the effort - you have nothing to lose but a good six months vacation if there are no jobs in the end - better than sitting at home in the US.

Madrid is a great city to work (did it for 2 years) but getting work as a non-Spaniard is hard...Barcelona is more cosmopolitian but I find it less exciting than Madrid. Getting a job in Madrid is hard work but well worth the effort.
