Jealousy and the Louvre

Hello fellow travellers!

My friend and I have just returned from three weeks of traveling. We went to London, Paris, Venice, Florence and Rome. As you can imagine those cities offered us a bundle to experience! We had an awesome time. Anyways just some advice about the Louvre in Paris...THERE IS MORE THAN ONE ENTRANCE!!!!
The day we ventrued there it was raining. As you can imagine everybody and his dog decided to do the museum thing that day. The line for the louvre(outside the building keep in mind) was horindisly long. So we stood there for two hours and we were barely half way through the line. WE both got very frustrated and I said enough of this. I went exploring because I knew that a museum of this size would not just have ONE entrance. Anyways, I stumbled upon two more entrances that were almost desserted! So the moral of this story is to be creative as to not waste your time standing in lines (anywhere in Europe!) but especially at the Louvre! Have a great time all travelers!

Um...that fact is published in most guide books. Had you done a little research before you left home you would not have wasted so much of your precious vacation time. Same goes for all the other things you want to do -- research it BEFORE you arrive there!

yeah, it is mentioned in many places, although when there are lines, the other ones usually are pretty long also, so that was fortunate you found ones with no line. You should have bought a one-day museum card, probably- you go right in with no wait, unless waiting hours is worth more to you than spending about 40F (the diff. in price between buying regular ticket and a 1-day museum card).

Here we go again. Someone describes an experience while traveling, and the oh-so-experienced Fodorites have to belittle them. Not nice.

Pete, thanks for your report, and don't let the snobs get to you.

Hi Pete, glad that you found the other entrances, but I'm confused. What does Jealousy have to do with it.
Hope you will be posting your travellog here.
Regards,
Art
