Jamin & Le Grand Vefour

Planning a trip to Paris with my husband at the end of May. Looking for a "splurge" restaurant with wondeful food and a romantic atmosphere to celebrate our anniversary (Taillevent and Guy Savoy are out of our budget). My research has led me to Jamin for dinner or Le Grand Vefour (maybe lunch). Can anyone advise me on approximately how much a meal at either of these restaurants might cost? Are fixed-price menus offered?

Thank you.

I just made reservations for lunch at Le Grand Vefour in May; the prix fixe is 71 euros. They emailed me a menu, also; there are 5 entrees (as we call them) to chose from. run a search on "splurge restaurants in Paris" and you will get lots of info.

I just tried a search on "splurge restaurants in Paris" and got nothing; this is very strange: I started the thread back in Jan., and just couple days ago searched it, got the original post, added my new info to it, etc. I had asked the same question as you, and there were many helpful responses. Not sure why it's not available today.

Kate,
Go to dininginfrance.com.paris_restaurants.htm and you will find information regarding both of your choices. This site also provides links to the specific restaurant cited in other publications, such as Zagats, Fodors, and Frommers. Zagat indicates that Jamin's average cost is 103 euros, but I don't recall it being so steep, even with inflation (I went there in '82 and again in '85). It was a delightful place back then with the best lamb I have ever had anywhere.
Have fun!
Sue & Shannon,

Thank you for your advice. I will follow your leads and contact Le Grand Vefour directly and have a look at the menu as well as investigate the dininginfrance web site.

Karen
