I've been robbed!!

My house was broken into a few weeks ago and I'm still discovering new things that are missing. Among everything else that was taken are some of my souvenirs from past trips - a silver crown charm and a TON of change from a trip to London a couple months ago and some coins plus other old stuff that I don't really care that much about from a trip to Morocco via Amsterdam several several years ago.

Of course, the charm can easily be replaced (I'm sure you can order them on-line or find them in a store here), but I liked my coins! Any clues on where to get more (other than returning to London, Morocco, and Amsterdam, which isn't in the budget at the moment)?

Hi,

I'm so sorry that this happened to you!

As far as money, I'm assuming you are asking where to exchange or get foreign coins? I don't know where you live but there aren't many foreign currency exchanges here in St. Louis except the airport. If you have a large airport near you, that will probably be the best place to exchange currency, although the exchange rates are usually bad.

Best wishes!
Tracy

I don't think airports have coins - usually just bills. Plus, all I really want is enough to fill my dish back up - it was a neat little conversation piece (or at least it was when it had something in it )

starspinners - that is extremely kind of you! I will be more than happy to repay you or send you anything you can think of that you might want from the Memphis area. Of course, about the only "native" things here are barbecue sauces and Elvis!

Heather,
Consider the coins a TGIF gift. It is my pleasure to send them.
I have lots, and I will be back in London this October to replenish.

That's sweet of you starspinners.
Last year I posted here looking to buy A french 50 note with the St Antoine exupery picture to send to a child who collects "The little Price"items. I ended up buying three. Sent two and neither one arrived (to India).

Heather, I'm sure I've got a bunch of English coins lying around, too, if you want them (and coins from just about every other European country as well - oh, and Morocco and Tunisia, too). I need to do some serious decluttering, so if you need more, e-mail me at [email protected]

Thank you all very very much. You don't know how much better I feel, especially after the detective was so amazed that it was the dish of coins and other such small, relatively inexpensive items that I was so upset over as opposed to the larger, more expensive items. Electronics, etc. can be replaced very easily, but family heirlooms (regardless of value) and souvenirs - not so easy. Thanks again to all!

Ebay sometimes has coins/foreign currency. Watch out for crooks trying to make a big profit. I guess a modest increase would be expected, as you will be saving a LOT of money by not having to fly overseas to get more coins...! Sorry to hear about your house. Good luck!
