Whether it's an ice cream cone or a bouquet of flowers, presentation is everything.
Amorino takes the time to make every cone a work of art.

A bouquet of flowers in it's own vase with water. It can go anywhere--fantastic!

Farmer's market...seller asks grand-mere "when will you be eating these?" as he selects the right potatoes for her.
I've also had the same experience as above when purchasing flowers as a gift when I arrived in Paris.
I like when vendors take pride in their products, and want them to be 'just so', or be packaged 'just so'.
We've all probably looked a some patisserie or chocolatier's window and wondered how much time was spent making this look the way it does.

Michael, that's beautiful! The colors are so vivid in that (almost) summer market picture.
In terms of presentation, I love the way the French write, evidenced on the many chalkboard menus which kerouac has covered in his reports.

The central market in La Rochelle is not to be missed. We do not have an oven in our house in France, but if we lived near La Rochelle, we would have one for the stuffed ready to cook roasts that are available at the butcher shops inside the building.

The chocolate shops, often with chocolate sculptures in the window, wrap your purchase beautifully. The packages of teas, simple foods, the tins are beautifully designed.
The way they gather radishes in a bouquet so that they look like closed anemones.

in Rouen, we were blown away by the flower shops - lots of which turned out to be selling silk flowers! Honestly, i couldn't tell the difference and the displays were fantastic.
I had to be persuaded not to fill the car up with them.

Michael, that is a fabulous pic of the vegetable market in LaRochelle – along with your other slides.
I just read PARIS TO THE PAST: Traveling Through French History by Train by Ina Caro. All of her excursions are day trips out of Paris by train, most of which are under an hour and a half. She makes an exception for LA ROCHELLE and does an overnight because the city is so fascinating. Your shot of the City Hall reminded me of her description of that building.
Ina Caro also includes suggestions for excellent lunch stops for most of her jaunts. I believe that PARIS TO THE PAST would be very helpful for those who have visited the city often and want to expand their repertoire of day trips beyond Giverny and Versailles.
TPAYT, good thread.

I just have to add this one from Galeries Layfayette. It's all in the presentation and these 100's of gorgeous bottles displayed together just made me buy a bottle of Nina Ricci perfume.

zeppole----yes, Amorino is an Italian company, but nowhere in Rome did I get a cone shaped like a flower, just a round scoop. Maybe I wasn't in the right shop though, I'll give you that.
