I will be surprised if it's anything other than Positano.

What's the definition? Just the largest altitude spread? Or largest altitude spread per town area?

I'm with the Positano crowd. Bellagio is vertical but not as tall. So are many others.

The (only?) one that "a Uber big tour company" is likely to have heard of is Positano.

I'd be interested to know if there is an "official" most vertical town, defined by someone like the Istituto Geografico Militare.

Perugia...a city, not a town..but surely vertical. So much so that the city has a system of elevators and escalators to whisk people up from bottom street levels and parking garages.

Altho walking the streets of Positano, if that ain't vertical, the meaning of the word has been lost/

Positano is the simple answer. But I think I want to ask you to first define "vertical", then "town" and then "most"

OK, I know, it's not really part of Italy.

Well i can't really define 'vertical' as meant by the tour brochure

just thought it would be an intriguing Q

heck i don't know what they mean by vertical but me i would think elevation from one part of town to the other and in the shortest distance - the most vertical rise would be in metres of altitude over the shortest distance

obviously thus would be a seaside town i guess
