Italy Youth Train Ticket
I know that in Italy their youth fares for trains are for those 25 years old and under. But when I go to book my tickets on the trenitalia website, the 15+ different fare options are in Italian and I have no idea which to choose. Help someone?
Do ALL Italian trains offer a discounted youth rate? (I'm taking a Eurostar train from Venice to Milan).
Thank you!

In order to get the discount, it seems that you will have to pay 40 euros to purchase a Green Card. With a Green Card, you would be eligible for 10% discounts within Italy. Depending on how much you plan to travel, it may not be worth it to get a Green Card, but instead to seek an Amica fare, which requires no discount card purchase.

Hi lm,
To get the youth fare, you have to buy the green card.
If V to M is your only train ride, buy your ticket at the station.
Amica fare is 20.2E on the ES*. 17.8E on the IC+, even less on the R train.

Thanks! Looks like I'll just go with the Amica rate. We probably will take a train up to Lake Como, too, but other than that we won't be taking any trains.
Is there a benefit to buying the ticket at the station vs online? We will be arriving in Venice from a cruise and can't take an earlier train, and we have tickets to see The Last Supper in Milan so we can't really take a later train and make that reservation. I would worry the train would sell out - does this happen?

I also read somewhere that it is recommended to travel on 1st class during the summer because the AC is better, there is more room for luggage, etc. We will have 2 full-size rolling suitcases along with 2 smaller bags (and who knows whatever souvenirs!) It looks like it is about 8euros (or $13) more per person to travel first class Venice-Milan. Do you all recommend this?
