We are going to Italy at the end of May and are interested in visiting a number of vineyards (not staying overnight). I am wndering about the best way to figure out which vineyards to visit. Also, any thoughts on a good guide? We are not interested in a big "tour", but just someone who might be able to give us more detail.

Rebecca. I am going to tell you about a specific vineyard to visit. There are so many to choose from. When I was in Italy, it was August and it narrowed my choices because a couple I picked were closed. Anyway, we had a mixed group. All of us liked wine, but some were not interest in a detailed description of every facet of wine making. Anyway we visited Verrazzano winery. The people were lovely. We visited and did a tour of the barrel room. I thought the host was very nice and it was a two hour visit with a very nice lunch and tasting of several wines. I would tell anyone to go there. You are right at a working winery. They take reservations. They speak excellant English. Send them an e-mail for information. You will be pleasantly surprised. [email protected] <BR>
