Italy strikes in June----"Giugno caldo"

Looks like a series of strikes, beginning June 7, ending June 25:

"Scioperi, giugno caldo: stop aerei, treni, bus e navi

My Italian isn't great, but I can understand most---strikes against airport, buses, trains and boats on various days from 7 June through 25 June. It looks like only one day of train strikes, 25 June (beginning 21:00 the previous evening).

Baggage handlers and other airport functions are earlier in the month.

zeppole, or anyone else who can read Italian, is that correct? And what is this all about? Why the "giugno caldo"?

Hi Enzian: We were in Italy in June, as you may remember, cuz you and I were asking for help on Fodor's at about the same times.

We never saw anything like a strike between June 4 and June 21 when we returned home.

I hope you are going to do a trip report, as I'm interested in how your trip went.

You can see my reports, which are called TWENTY MATCHLESS DAYS IN UMBRIA AND TUSCANY, and there are three parts.

Looking forward to your experiences.

We were in Italy the last 10 days of June. The was supposed to be a strike the day we were in Cinque Terre. We didn't have a problem. Somebody working in a train station explained to us that during a strike any train (if it's the trains) may or may not operate. You only know when it happens.

I think there was something on at least June 25. We had a car that day, fortunately, but came across a speech and other activities in Siena.

taconictraveler--Hi! I do intend to do a trip report---I just have to find the time. The short version is that we had a wonderful time and our daughters are now both in love with Italy.

Now I'll go read yours!
